CHEESE CUPS, PARMESAN STICKS & “Salabat”,Filipino Ginger Tea
Charming little bread cups toasted and filled with a sharp-flavored cheese pimiento spread. Crisp puff pastry parmesan sticks. And a warm cup of reassuring ginger tea. What do these 3 delish snacks have in common? They’re all flavored nicely with some delightful Clover Honey Crème.
The holidays must go on, no matter how hectic the days are. And when schedules go crazy, there is no need to panic. The Honey Ridge Farms Honey Crème I used was the most versatile ingredient I found. You can use it for almost anything, be it appetizers, snacks, desserts or beverages. Here’s what got me raves from friends who dropped by…
HONEY-GLAZED CHEESE BREAD CUPS
PARMESAN PUFF PASTRY STICKS with HONEY
SALABAT, Filipino Ginger Tea
The Clover Honey Crème I used from my friends at Honey Ridge Farms is one of the finest honeys around. It’s made by generations of bee keepers, and they make sure to give their customers the best artisan honey . Honey Ridge Farms make their honeys available only at the most selective stores. But once you get hold of any of their honey crèmes, it will be worth the wait.
HONEY GLAZED CHEESE BREAD CUPS
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup crushed pineapple
1/3 cup chopped red peppers
10 -12 slices white bread, crusts trimmed off
2 Tablespoons Honey Ridge Farms Clover Honey Crème
- Make the cheese pimiento spread by mixing together in a bowl : cheese, mayonnaise, crushed pineapple, red pepper. Blend well. Cheese spread should have a thick consistency. Set aside.
- In muffin pan, arrange bread slices over each one by pushing the bread inwards so it becomes the shape of a tulip. Stuff the bread cups with two tablespoons cheese pimiento spread.
- Bake the cheese bread cups in a 375 F degree preheated oven for 12 minutes or till edges turn brown and crisp. When done, take out of the oven and move the bread cups to the counter.
- Heat the Honey Ridge Farms Clover Honey Creme in a small bowl, in the microwave for 10 seconds. Once melted, add the honey on top of the newly-baked bread cups. Serve while still warm.
PARMESAN PUFF PASTRY STICKS with Honey
1 large sheet of puff pastry
½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
2 Tablespoons Honey Ridge Farms Clover Honey Crème
- Thaw frozen sheet of puff pastry on the counter, for about 25 minutes. If it gets too soft to handle, refrigerate a few minutes.
- With a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the puff pastry sheets in 2-inch length sticks. Roll these sticks in grated parmesan cheese. Twist the sticks to form spirals. Place the parmesan sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in a preheated 375 F degree oven for 15 minutes. Once done, serve immediately while still warm. Heat the Honey Ridge Farm Honey Crème in the microwave for 10 seconds. Quickly pour this honey crème over the newly baked parmesan sticks. Serve this sticks and the bread cups together with some SALABAT, Filipino ginger tea.

This is a very popular warm tea beverage in the Philippines. It is a fragrant ginger tea, garnished with apple and lemon slices, and sweetened with honey crème. This Salabat/ Ginger Tea is known to have curative effects for those who are suffering from a sore throat, cough or a cold.

I love these cheesy snacks but homemade salabat hits the spot! I can vouch for its curative effect — whenever my husband & I feel the tell-tale tickle of a sore throat coming on, we’re heating up a mugful of salabat. Don’t forget that it is also wonderful for when you have a bit of tummy upset. Thanks for sharing these recipes!
